PUJA Academy Seminar: Enhancing Construction Contracts: Embracing Collaborative Contracting and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) Principles for Sustainable Development
Bandar Seri Begawan, 12 October 2024 – PUJA Academy Sdn Bhd (PASB) hosted a one-day seminar titled “Enhancing Construction Contracts: Embracing Collaborative Contracting and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) Principles for Sustainable Development,” held on October 12, 2024, at PWD Headquarters.
The seminar featured two distinguished speakers: Mr. Anil Changaroth, an accredited international Mediator, Arbitrator, and Adjudicator, as well as Co-Head of RHTLawAsia’s ESG, and Chairman of the Law Society of Singapore’s ESG Working Group, and Puan Lenny Rahman, Partner at HLR Law in Brunei, Digital Dispute Resolution Specialist, and Accredited Civil/Commercial Mediator at the Brunei Darussalam Arbitration Centre.
This event aimed to explore current trends that advocated for a collaborative, sustainable, and socially responsible approach to construction projects within the ESG framework. Discussions focused on how these practices fostered a holistic and inclusive project management approach in Brunei, emphasizing cooperation, communication, and shared success to achieve optimal outcomes for all stakeholders.
The seminar highlighted the future of construction relationships and sustainability. Participants explored the benefits of collaborative contracting models like Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and Alliancing, while gaining insights into Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and regulatory frameworks in Singapore and Brunei. Additionally, the seminar offered strategies for integrating ESG into contracts, fostering effective communication, and engaging stakeholders, all aimed at transforming challenges into opportunities for a sustainable construction industry.
The seminar attracted over 80 participants, including PUJA members, government officials, and professionals from the private sector. It addressed key professional needs and provided valuable insights into effective contract management.
