PUJA Brunei Institute of Engineers Showcase Innovation and Excellence at CAFEO-43 in Clark City, Philippines
A delegation of 20 Brunei engineers from both the public and private sectors has successfully returned from Clark City, Philippines, after participating in the 43rd Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO-43) held from 27th to 31st October 2025. The prestigious regional engineering event gathered over 1,200 engineers from all 11 ASEAN countries including Timor-Leste, as well as representatives from China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.
Led by Ir Chin Lee Tuck, President of the Institution of Engineers, PUJA Brunei (IEPB), the delegation represented Brunei in various technical and professional exchange sessions, strengthening regional engineering collaboration.

During the conference, Brunei engineers delivered technical papers covering critical advancements within the sector, including:
- Engineering Capacity Building in Emerging Technologies: Advancing ASEAN’s Competitiveness Through AI and Robotics
Ir Chin Lee Tuck, President of IEPB - The Utilisation of Vacuum Sewerage System
Dayang Siti Zuhairah Binti Haji Brahim, JKR
These presentations were well received by international delegates, highlighting Brunei’s contributions to technological development and infrastructure innovation within the ASEAN region.

In addition, three Brunei engineers were honoured during the CAFEO-43 Awards Ceremony for their outstanding contributions to the engineering profession:
- Honorary AFEO Fellow – Ir Hj Othman Momin
- AFEO Honorary Member – Ir Mohd Isa Ibrahim
- ASEAN Engineer Register – Ir Albert Chua
This year’s conference theme, “ASEAN Engineers: Beacon of Prosperity, Inclusivity, Equity, Resilience, and Sustainability,” emphasized the increasingly important role engineers play in advancing national development agendas and addressing global challenges.



Participants discussed a wide range of engineering and technical topics such as artificial intelligence, smart cities, geotechnical advancements, sustainable energy, capacity building, mobility of engineers, resilience against disasters, and innovation-driven growth.
Brunei’s active involvement reflects the country’s commitment to enhancing engineering capabilities and strengthening regional collaboration in alignment with Brunei Vision 2035.
The CAFEO-44 conference will be hosted next year by Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII) in Bandung, Indonesia, continuing the mission to empower and elevate ASEAN engineering excellence.
