PUJA Brunei Institute of Engineers President Participates as Panelist at 2026 China–ASEAN AI Capacity Building and High-Level Seminar
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 23 January 2026 — The President of the Institution of Engineers, PUJA Brunei, Ir. Chin Lee Tuck, was formally invited to participate as a distinguished panelist at the 2026 China–ASEAN AI Capacity Building Training Program and High-Level Seminar on AI Frontier Technologies and Governance, held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The high-level regional programme brought together policymakers, engineering institutions, academia, and industry leaders from across ASEAN and China to deliberate on emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, talent development, and responsible AI governance. The initiative forms part of ongoing China–ASEAN collaboration efforts aimed at strengthening digital innovation, engineering leadership, and sustainable development in the region.
The seminar featured keynote addresses and thematic sessions delivered by eminent experts and representatives from UNESCO, the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP), the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET), as well as leading research institutions from China.

A key highlight of the programme was the Roundtable Discussion on AI Education and Capacity Building, moderated by Professor Dr. Wang Huiqiong, Assistant President of Xiamen University Malaysia.

The discussion focused on bridging AI education gaps, strengthening workforce readiness, and developing regional strategies for sustainable human capital development.
In his intervention, Ir. Chin highlighted Brunei Darussalam’s strong national foundations in digital literacy, dual-language education, and high-quality digital infrastructure, aligned with the Brunei Digital Economy Masterplan 2025. He emphasised the importance of integrating AI competencies into engineering education, professional development frameworks, and cross-border training initiatives to ensure ASEAN engineers remain competitive and resilient in an increasingly AI-driven economy.
PUJA Brunei’s participation in this programme further reinforces its commitment to:

- contributing to ASEAN-wide knowledge exchange and policy dialogue;
