Bandar Seri Begawan, 9 November 2024 – In conjunction with its 40th anniversary of establishment in 2024, Pertubuhan Ukur, Jurutera dan Arkitek (PUJA) Brunei marked the occasion with a tree planting event at Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas. In recognition of this milestone, PUJA members contributed 40 trees, symbolizing their support for PUJA’s 40-year legacy and dedication to promoting environmental sustainability in Brunei.
PUJA’s tree planting initiative aligns with the Ministry of Development’s Strategic Development Plan, which emphasizes sustainable planning, environmental protection, and promoting long-term sustainability for the benefit of future generations.
This event highlighted PUJA’s four decades of contributions in surveying, engineering, and architecture, and contributions of its members as professionals and practitioners in the Brunei Construction Industry, while also underscoring its commitment to environmental stewardship. The tree planting aimed to raise awareness of the role of trees in enhancing urban landscapes, supporting biodiversity, and addressing climate change.
The event was made possible through a partnership between PUJA and Jabatan Alam Sekitar, Taman dan Rekreasi (JASTRE), supporting JASTRE’s mission to protect and expand Brunei’s green spaces and contributing to the nation’s goal of preserving urban forests and parks.
The tree planting ceremony was officially launched by Sr. Dayang Hajah Norhayati Binti Haji Mohd Yaakub, Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap Ministry of Development, whose participation highlighted the importance of sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
