PUJA (Brunei) Hosts ASEAN Engineer Registered (AER) Roadshow on Engineering Mobility and Smart Infrastructure

Bandar Seri Begawan, 19th July 2025 – The Pertubuhan Ukur, Jurutera dan Arkitek (PUJA) Brunei successfully hosted the ASEAN Engineer Registered (AER) Roadshow on Saturday, 19th July 2025, at the Atria Simpur Hall, Public Works Department. The event gathered over 100 engineers, architects, quantity surveyors from across the engineering field in the private and public sectors to discuss regional mobility and the integration of emerging technologies in infrastructure development.
The first session, “ASEAN Engineering Mobility & Beyond,” was presented by Ir. Ts. Yeong Chin Chow, Simon, The Head Commissioner of ASEAN Engineering Register and a registered Professional Engineer (Civil) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. He shared insights on the ASEAN Engineers Register (AER), a regional platform that facilitates the recognition of professional engineers among ASEAN member states. He highlighted how joining the AER can enhance cross-border career opportunities, promote mutual recognition of qualifications, and foster regional collaboration in addressing engineering challenges.

The second session, titled “Engineering the Future: Harnessing Emerging Technologies for Smart, Sustainable, and Secure Infrastructure,” was delivered by Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Tan Chee Fai, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST), Vice President of The Institute of Engineers, Malaysia, a globally recognized expert in AI and smart engineering. He discussed the role of technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, augmented reality, and digital twins in advancing Brunei’s infrastructure in line with Wawasan 2035.

The roadshow served as a platform to inspire and prepare Bruneian engineers for greater regional participation and leadership in shaping future-ready, resilient infrastructure.
